SUBSIDIES FOR SELF-CONSUMPTION
The Government has a subsidy plan planned for the period 2017 – 2020, which means covering the cost of photovoltaic installations by more than 80%, depending on the region. But for this grant to be granted there are a series of requirements and guidelines to follow that are:
– Install the photovoltaic system in municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants.
– In the case of photovoltaic self-consumption hooked to the electricity grid or isolated they must have a power greater than 5 kW.
– Both projects must involve an investment between 50,000 euros and one million.
All these rules are currently contained in the royal decree 616/2017 that can be read here. (link)
But not all the autonomous communities cover the same percentage of investment, since this varies according to what is established in the FEDER program. For example, in Madrid, Navarra, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Aragon or the Balearic Islands it covers 50%, while in Andalusia, Extremadura, Galicia or Asturias it covers up to 80%.
This program not only favors photovoltaic self-consumption installations in all its modalities, but also favors other modalities such as geothermal energy, thermo-solar energy, thermal fluid distribution networks or heat pumps.
However, the incentive program for photovoltaic self-consumption facilities in Andalusia varies, and is not only governed by the rules mentioned above, but there are others that, if you are interested, you will be able to better inform yourself on your own page.
Below we will show the updated guide until 2018 that shows the steps for houses or buildings to join the self-consumption.

Cinco Días – El País
All this is favored thanks to the fact that last October the renewable energy sector celebrated the derogation of the sun tax through Royal Decree Law 15/2018, in which its biggest novelty is that it now favors self-consumption collective.
But for us to start favoring this type of facility, the first thing that IDAE (Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving) recommends is to make sure that there is no legal limitation to place the photovoltaic installation in the chosen place, and for we will have to go to the urban planning department of the town where the installation will be located. Generally, the design, certificate and execution of the installation are usually requested, registered in the autonomic self-consumption register and have a works license.
This type of installation will be seen more in certain places and their requirements will therefore be different.
COTTAGES
This installation is made individually and requires an installed power of between 1.5 to 3 kW, which leads to install between 6 and 12 solar panels, ie an estimated investment between 3,000 and 6,000 euros.
BUILDINGS
It is a joint installation, so this time IDAE recommends a simple assembly that meets the demand of common areas that may have a neighborhood community.
SMEs
In these companies the installed capacity can exceed up to 15 kW and they should request an access point to the distribution company, which in some cases could lead to certain problems. The cost of this type of photovoltaic installation could amount to about 50,000 euros, but the savings that would be on their bill could be up to 55%
